Creamy Shrimp Pasta Recipe

Ingredients

For the pasta:

  • 8 oz (225g) fettuccine or spaghetti

  • Water + salt for boiling

For the shrimp:

  • 1 lb (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • ½ tsp paprika

  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the creamy sauce:

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • ¼ cup cream cheese (optional for extra creaminess)

  • ½ cup chicken broth (or pasta water)

  • ½ tsp chili flakes (optional)

  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley (for garnish)


👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Cook the pasta:

  • Bring salted water to a boil.

  • Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente.

  • Reserve ½ cup of pasta water, then drain and set aside.


2. Cook the shrimp:

  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat.

  • Add shrimp, garlic, paprika, salt, and pepper.

  • Sauté for 2–3 minutes per side until pink and cooked through.

  • Remove shrimp and set aside.


3. Make the creamy sauce:

  • In the same skillet, melt 1 tbsp butter.

  • Pour in heavy cream and chicken broth.

  • Stir and bring to a gentle simmer.

  • Add Parmesan cheese and cream cheese, whisking until smooth and thickened.

  • Season with salt, pepper, and chili flakes.


4. Combine everything:

  • Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss until well coated.

  • Add shrimp back to the skillet and mix gently.

  • If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water.


5. Serve:

  • Garnish with fresh parsley and extra Parmesan cheese.

  • Serve hot with garlic bread or a fresh green salad.

  • Don’t overcook shrimp — they cook quickly!

  • Use linguine, penne, or tagliatelle if you prefer.

  • Add spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, or mushrooms for extra flavor.
