🍖 Ingredients

For the Ground Beef and Gravy:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour

  • 1 ½ cups beef broth

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

  • Optional: ½ tsp paprika or dried thyme for extra flavor

For the Mashed Potatoes:

  • 2 lbs (900g) potatoes, peeled and cubed

  • 3 tbsp butter

  • ½ cup milk (or cream for richness)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

🍳 Instructions

  1. Boil potatoes in salted water until tender (about 15–20 minutes). Drain and mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper. Set aside.

  2. Cook the beef: In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat until no longer pink. Drain excess fat.

  3. Add onion and garlic, and cook for 2–3 minutes until soft and fragrant.

  4. Make the gravy: Push beef to the side of the pan. Add butter to melt, then sprinkle in flour. Stir for 1 minute to make a roux.

  5. Slowly add beef broth while stirring to avoid lumps. Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and paprika.

  6. Simmer 5–7 minutes until thickened and glossy.

  7. Serve: Spoon creamy mashed potatoes onto plates, top generously with beef and gravy, and garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
